RELEASE NOTE: 8MAN 5.7 IS NOW AVAILABLE

In keeping with the start of the new year, we would like to introduce our new 8MAN version 5.7. This version includes many new features, e.g. 8MAN for Exchange now includes even more modification functions.

8MAN TESTIMONIAL

"When we had finished the test run of 8MAN and saw all the 'sins' of the past, it was a real eye-opener." - Meinolf Zimmermann, IT Director of the City of Höxter

"We want to simplify the administration of rights and bring responsibility directly to the data owner. This has reduced our workload and increased our speed. Also, the internal review now has the option of directly viewing permissions." - Alexander Schanz, IT Leader Deutsche Flugsicherung

“The considerably better reporting of the actual permissions in AD is important for us.” - Stefan Brüggemann, Head of Atotech Worldwide IT Operations

8MAN protects against unauthorized internal access

With 8MAN, you can analyze and display the permissions of all users on file and Exchange servers, Active Directory, SharePoint and VMware vSphere. 8MAN is under continuous development in cooperation with early adopters. As a result, all functions and technology connections are created according to practical experience. On the programming side, 8MAN is based on .NET technology. 8MAN can be implemented within a few hours and can immediately provide results in almost all Microsoft system environments as well as in VMware vSphere.

Manage access rights

HOW CAN I GET THE TANGLED WEB OF ACCESS RIGHTS UNDER CONTROL?
Access rights can be assigned via drag and drop. Possible rights conflicts of users are displayed. Permissions are set within departments. Changes are supported in the following areas: Active Directory, NetApp and Microsoft Server, EMC2 as well as SharePoint.

  • assignment of access rights via drag and drop
  • simplification of rights assignment
  • administer and delegate permissions

Everything in view!

WHAT DOES THE SIMPLE PERMISSIONS CONCEPT OFFER?
All rights of a user are presented in an overview and all users who have particular rights are listed. A new administrator does not need any extensive training in order to understand the rights concept. vSphere is easier to use and is integrated into the best practices. The everyday business of authorization is quicker and easier.

  • overview of all rights
  • listing of all users
  • no training or long adjustment periods for new admins
  • the everyday business of authorization is quicker and easier

Document permissions and create reports.

HOW CAN I GET AN OVERVIEW OF MY PERMISSIONS?
Administrators can create tamper-proof documentation of all changes in permissions as well as unauthorized access in the system, including time stamps, type and place of the change and access. Every change in rights made by data owners requires a short written justification, which is also documented. A comparison of the permission situation at different points in time allows constant control. All activities are output in a report, without specifying personal data - concise and clearly prepared, so that it is also useful to management and auditors. 24 Reports are available at any time for Active Directory, NetApp and Microsoft Server, EMC2, Exchange and SharePoint (including 8MAN Logbook, time control reports, Fileserver Logga reports optional, AD Logga reports optional).

  • Who has access to what?
  • Was there unauthorized access?
  • Are there any recursions?

The 8MAN graph.

WITH WHAT CAN I VIEW, FIND AND MANAGE PERMISSIONS?
The 8MAN graph displays objects and users in addition to their group memberships. Group structures are displayed in full directly in the overview. This enables the detection of excessive and incorrect permissions. Current comparisons of the permissions can easily be performed. All permissions of resources are structured and shown in an overview in the 8MAN GUI: Active Directory, NetApp, EMC2, Microsoft-Fileserver and Exchange Server, SharePoint farms and VMWare Vsphere.

  • fully display of group structures
  • detect excessive and incorrect permissions
  • current comparisons are possible
  • permissions are structured and presented in an overview
